Scholarship Support to a Deserving Student at Vidyapith

Praktani EC Update dated August 07, 2021 Dear Praktani Brothers, We are glad to update that the Praktani EC was recently able to secure scholarship for a Vidyapith student, whose parents had reached out to the Vidyapith management and to Praktani EC for supporting their ward’s education for Class 10th and Higher Secondary. As the Praktani EC became aware of the situation, a sub-committee led by EC members Manoj Jha (1988) and Rishi Prakash (1997) was formed, to coordinate with Vidyapith, contact the student's family to understand the need, and to facilitate the collection of required funds. Vidyapith authorities informed the student was a consistent performer in studies. After appearing for the 10th Board exams, he also sought admission to Class 11th in Vidyapith. However, his fees for Class 10th was due, and his admission to Class 11th remained conditional. The total amount after calculation of past dues and the fees for Class 11th and 12th came to INR 5 Lakh. While Vidyapith had graciously allowed the student to appear for the 10th exam even without having paid the Class 10th fees, offering a seat to the same student in Class 11th would mean waiving about INR 5 Lakh, which, Vidyapith expressed genuine limitations on. Further, the student’s father is a private tutor. His work got adversely impacted because of COVID, and he had no source of income to support his son’s education. He was left with no option but to let his son pursue his further education at a government school, which would clearly haven’t been the best way forward for an academically brilliant student from Vidyapith. This is when the Praktani EC intervened. We worked with Vidyapith to get INR 3.5 Lakh waived off for the student and assured the school of the remaining contribution to be taken care of by the EC. Thereafter, Members of the EC came together and within a week, raised the remaining INR 1.5 Lakh – 50% with the help of Makeen Energy, where Manoj Jha (1988 Batch EC Member) played an important role, and the remaining 50% was raised through personal contributions of EC Members. Through the efforts of our extremely motivated members, the student has his Class 10th dues cleared and his higher secondary fees already paid for. As alumni of a school that propagates man-making education, we take pride in supporting the education of a promising student, and demonstrating that together, we can create significant impact in the time to come. To prevent any such situation in future, we propose to create an on-going scholarship. We will soon release a separate appeal to all our Praktani brothers for their support in creating this fund – to ensure that any student who deserves to study in Vidyapith, gets to study in Vidyapith!
